ITB Celebrates the 78th Indonesian Independence Day at Jatinangor Campus

JATINANGOR, itb.ac.id—Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) in Jatinangor courtyard organised a ceremony to commemorate the 78th Indonesian Independence Day, Thursday (17/8). This ceremony was followed by the respective members of the rectorate committee, vice rectors, lecturers, academic professionals, as well as first-year students of ITB.

This ceremony was led by ITB Rector, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D. as the spokeswoman of this function. She states that independent learning is one of the main points in building the Indonesian Education System. She believes that independent learning has given freedom of act in learning and teaching for both students and professionals, effectuating significant changes and development to the basic academic skills of young Indonesians. Her speech also acts in accordance with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology’s message for ITB that was brought up during the ceremony.

Moreover, the Independent Learning and Independent Campus Program by The Indonesian Government has changed the lives of more than 760,000 students across the nation, giving them the privilege and chance to acquire further education, contributing the growth of new generations of Indonesians.

“Our campaign on Independent Learning for the past four years has shown the importance of unity in fulfilling the freedom of learning. To succeed, we have to exceed. Let’s keep the spirit of learning from our elders to keep moving forward and attain Independent Learning. Together,” she said, closing the speech.

Furthermore, the national flag hoisting by the student team was immensely ceremonious. It was soon followed by the ITB Student Choir and Marching Band Waditra Ganesha ITB performance of “Lagu Hari Merdeka,”.

During the act in ITB Jatinangor Campus, a number of professionals received a total of 6 awards during the annual ceremony. Those awards include: Satyalacana Karya Satya award for 30, 20, and 10 years from the Indonesian Government, as well as the Award for Academic Devotion to ITB for 40, 35, and 25 years.

Lastly, the top student for ITB Knowledge Session from batch 1 and 2 was also announced, alongside Management of ITB Work Units Appreciation recognition.
