ITB Grieves, Professor of Building Physics Prof. Soegijanto Passed Away
BANDUNG, itb.ac.id- Institut Teknologi Bandung Professor Emeritus Prof. Dr. Ir. R.M. Soegijanto, M.Sc., from the Building Physics Research Group, Faculty of Industrial Technology (FIT) ITB passed away on Thursday (2/12/2021) at around 09.15 WIB at Borromeus Hospital, Bandung. In honor of Prof. Soegijanto's departure, ITB held a funeral in the West Hall.
People performed the funeral prayer first at Salman Mosque ITB before the burial at San Diego Hills, Kawarang (Kavling Al Halim). The funeral home is located in Dago Pakar Bandung Resort (Forest Hill F-15). The rector, lecturers, relatives, colleagues, and the family participated in the funeral ceremony with strict health protocols.
During the funeral at West Hall, representing the entire ITB academic community, ITB Rector Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., expressed her deep condolences and prayed for Allah SWT. Forgive, bless, and provide salvation to the deceased and the family left behind can sincerely accept his return.
“I, on behalf of the ITB family to express my deep condolences to the family of Mr. Prof. Dr. Ir. R.M. Soegijanto, M.Sc., may Allah SWT accept his worship and forgive his sins and get the best place in the sight of Allah SWT. To the family of the deceased who was left behind, we pray that they are always provided with fortitude and patience and can accept the departure of the dead with ikhlas, "said Prof. Reini.
On the occasion, the Dean of the ITB Faculty of Industrial Technology Prof. Brian Yuliarto, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D. read a short biography. R.M. Soegijanto was born in Solo on March 5, 1938. He studied at the Institut Teknologi Bandung in Engineering Physics in 1956-1961, Purdue University, USA in 1961-1962, the University of New South Wales, Australia 1970, and the ITB Doctoral Program 1977-1982. ITB appointed him as a professor in 1995.
During his life he has received various awards including Ganesha Cendekia Widya Adiutama ITB in 2009, Ganesha Bakti Cendekia ITB in 2004, Satyalencana Karya Satya 30 in 2002, and Satyalencana Devotion 25 in 1985.
Rector said the deceased had taken a long journey in his career. History records of him is a well-mannered and respectful figure to anyone, both senior and junior. Meanwhile, a family representative, Dr. Andriyanto Wibisono, asked for prayers dedicated to the deceased to have a noble place by His side and was forgiven for his life mistakes.
