Tyco Electronics and ITB Launch Structured Cabling Design Center

MoU TE - ITBBandung, itb.ac.id -  Under an agreement signed by both institutions, Tyco Electronics Ltd (TE), represented by PT> Tyco Precision Electronics, a wholly owned entity of TE and ITB will provide training in premises cabling to the STEI-ITB Lecturer of ITB. In turn, ITB lecturer will conduct training on structured cabling system installation, testing, and design to their students. This is the first such Structured Cabling Design Center in Indonesia. The launching is conducted at ITB today, witnesses by TE's AMP NETCONNECET nationwide channel partners.
Mr. Thomas Poh, Industry Director of AMP NETCONNECT, a division of Tyco Electronics said the MoU formalises an intence working relationship that has been going on between the two institutions. "Tyco Electronics is proud to sponsor training programs at ITB that will make students in STEI-ITB even more marketable after they leave the university". The program is expected to equip the Structured Cabling Design Center of ITB with full range of AMP NETCONNECT products and additional equipment to support the AMP ACT Trainning program. Tyco Electronics also rope in the support of its partners in Indonesia by sponsoring a Certification Cable Tester and the latest termination tools. These TE Partners are PT. Nusantara Compnet Integrator, PT. Ampnet Mega Pacific, and PT. Adhitua Mandiri Pratama.

Laboratorium Telematika"What will unfold is a collaboration of effors between the two institutions which will have long term implications in the promotion of structured cabling expertise in this country and we are very honoured to be part of this exciting development," Mr. Irawan Purwono added. Mr. Irawan is an ITB alumnus and is also the founder and Director of PT. Nusantara Compnet Integrator, a highly regarded IT system integrator and Cisco's Silver Certified Partner, one of TE's Partners that supported this program.

Mr. Prof. Dr. Ir. Adang Suwandi Ahmad, Dean of STEI-ITB, welcomed this MoU as a symbol of TE's confidence on the capabilities of ITB's engineering students. "We look forward with much eagerness the commencement of this first ever training program in Indonesia that will equip both our students and faculty with hands-on experience in premises cabling. We hope in future we could extend this program to the training and upgrading of cabling contractors for the needs of the IT industry".

Suhadi Kho - Tutun JuhanaITB has provided suitable premises to setup the Structured Cabling Design Center at the STEI-ITB. In addition to this, ITB and TE jointly design courses that will give ITB's students a solid background on structured cabling system installation, testing, and design during their course of study in ITB.
