BANDUNG, itb.ac.id — Ilham Subandoro, a student from Management Study Program of School of Business and Management at the Bandung Institute of Technology (SBM ITB), has been chosen as ITB most outstanding student this year.

Ilham, a 2019 ITB student, has many remarkable achievements, both at national and international levels. This includes being the 1st Winner of the 2020 International Business Solution Competition, winning the Gold Medal in the International Business Plan Competition-Indonesia Inventor Day 2020, receiving the Silver Medal for Sahasak Nimavum International Invention and Innovation Competition 2020-Colombo, Sri Lanka, and many more.

This Kuningan-Blooded fellow has also won the 2020 Kuningan Achievement Youth Award from Kuningan Regency and has been chosen as The Kuningan Reading Ambassador 2021.

Due to his active participation in various competitions, Ilham admitted that he could participate in nearly 17 competitions at the same time in a semester. His purpose of participating in the competition is to build relationships and develop his skills so that he can develop further. Ilham felt happy to be given the chance to represent ITB in various national and international competitions.

“We don’t have to be afraid to try in competitions. Competitions help us acknowledge our skills. We have to try to know what we lack, our mistakes, and how to fix them,” he said in the interview.

In participating in competitions, Ilham has this strategy called bait and nets principle, where he believes that we should not just take part in one competition.

The 2021 ITB Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres) was held in stages, starting from the faculty/school selection stage and then the campus level stage. Ilham admitted that in the faculty/school stage, he was unsure to be selected onto the next stage, since he was the youngest in his faculty’s Pilmapres.

Starting from administrative selection, the stages of the ITB Pilmapres continued to make scientific papers, presentations, and interviews. This year, 12 students from each faculty/school finalists participated in this stage.
After being selected as ITB most outstanding student, Ilham is focusing on participating in the national-level Pilmapres and continuing to participate in more competitions to make his alma mater proud.
