Architecture Team from ITB Won Indonesia Landscape Design Competition 2017
BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Architecture Team from ITB successfully attained the 1st place in biennial competition Indonesia Landscape Design Competition 2017 (ILDC 2017): Sudirman Monumental Streetscape which was held by The Society of Landscape Architecture Students (HIMASKAP) IPB on Saturday (30/09/17). A team consisting of Dane Amilawangi (Architecture 2013), Hero Renaldi (Architecture 2013), M. Indra Ramadhan (Architecture 2013), and Inda Rahmania (Architecture 2013) carried a work titled “Reframing the Past for Assembling the Future”, where design uses particular concept to ‘reframe’ the past and ‘assemble’ the future of Jalan Sudirman, Bogor.
To contain design with
that theme, the team picked two well-known landmarks in Bogor, Istana Negara
and Tugu Air Mancur as the start and the end. Along the way to those two
historical spots, pedestrians will go past other historical spots which have spaces
for public activities and remembrance of past struggle of Bogor residents. The
team assemble the future by presenting design which is green and sustainable, disability-friendly,
and facilitating public activities for 24 hours.
The team design using 5 key principles, Pedestrian Focused Boulevard, An Iconic Street, 25 Hour Street, Connecting the Dots, and Efficient Transport. Using the first principle, pedestrian path is designed with comfort and follows universal standard such as utilization of ramp and guide for blinds. The path is also equipped with vegetation and canopy as rain shelter. Using the second principle, iconic street design is used for cultural heritage purpose. The design focus on cultural heritage element on Jalan Sudirman. The third principle, the 25 hour street is activity generator spots on Jalan Sudirman. The area is public plaza on the yard of PETA Museum, main plaza on Taman Air Mancur, as well as commercial area. The area is designed to make it live day and night, and equipped with attractive lighting; hubs for public activities that connect with each other, such as public plaza, social area, and fountain plaza; bus stops and crosswalk included in the design with efficiency to public transport.
Preparing since July, the team recognize there are many iconic heritages designed on Jalan Sudirman. Those icons are Istana Bogor, PETA Museum, and Bogor’s point zero monument. The team think to preserve the sacredness of these cultural heritages without omitting sustainable aspects for the future, such as environment, social, and economy aspects. It is emphasized that architect should understand local regulations, cultural heritage regulations, as well as conducting research on history and heritage element of designed area.
