ITB Student Got a Golden Ticket to Regional Business Competition Representing Indonesia

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Two students of ITB, Devina Jonathan (Chemical Engineering ITB 2010) and Amanda Rizki Maharani Mu'tamar (Industrial Engineering ITB 2010) lifted up ITB name by winning a competition in the Indonesian ASEAN level. The team wins P&G ASEAN Business Challenge 2014 further regionally to compete against competitors from ASEAN countries. The award was given in Jakarta, Monday-Thursday (14-17/04/14) was successfully achieved by appropriately completing the business case.
Competitions were held in the five countries (Indonesia, Thailand , Vietnam , and the Philippines). It was was the sixth competition ever held by P&G. Amanda and Devina competed with 26 other Indonesiam students in solving a business case. They worked together with 4 other students from different universities as a team completing the case. The competition was entitled 'Live The Game , Live The Challenge'. The participants were given the data by P&G and the challenge was how to implement the strategies that participants had made through the sale of products at different locations. Given case was a case of real strategies that increase brand sales of a product by 20% per year.


Amanda and Devina managed to win the competition through a framework that had been given, among others, consumer analysis, goods for sale, marketing strategy, and execution plans. They identified the needs of the consumer products through focus group discussions. Victory can be achieved because the right team in determining target markets and strategies appropriate to the target, and made execution in line with the target. "From the analysis of the case, our group was able to create a strategy that fits with the value of P&G. The execution of what we do on the field was in line with the strategy we planned," Devina said.


Working together with other students who are new to know was a challenge for Devina and Amanda. "Team-bonding becomes a challenge because we are required to work quickly and effectively with people we've never met before," Amanda added in an interview. During the competition, they emphasized to take the learning process, not only competing to be the winner. Furthermore, this team will compete again in Singapore in June to represent Indonesia.
