BANDUNG , itb.ac.id - ITB West Hall on Saturday (15/02/14) successfully attended by about 500 people in the seminar, titled "Riset dan Teknologi Otomotif Untuk Kemandirian Indonesia" . The seminar was one of the series of activities Act for Mechanical Society (MARS) hosted by HMM ITB. There were five speakers include Santosa Judo (representatives of the Ministry of Research and Technology) , Dasep Ahmadi (developer of electric cars) , Mario Rivaldi (developer of electric motors) , Abdul Hapid (researcher in the field of electric power and mechatronics LIPI), and Linda Sunarti (CNG and Pipeline Manager Pertamina).

The seminar was opened by the vice chancellor of academic and student affairs, Prof. D. Ir. Kadarsyah Suryadi. He mentioned that one of the MARS and this seminar was a real testament to the community service students. In relation to the theme of the seminar, Kadarsyah also said to be a techno principle, a man should has 3R, which means the ratio of the intellectual and scientific, namely Raga, physical and spiritual health, as well as the flavors were interpreted as entrepreneurial spirit.
Next was the exposure of Santosa said that endurance technology has now become a concern, including the need for techno generations as the embodiment of technological empowerment of the nation's independence. "A techno with soul and spirit that results in the work of the study will be beneficial to the community and of course the market will be welcomed," he explained. For him, it has emerged potential technopreneurs who grew up with a great innovation potential in the global market. It is inevitable, if global competition has now become a reality including the technology ownership by foreign nations. The labor force can be optimized as change agents of the national economy in the future. According to him, the campus was one of the main terminals where educated youth were able to develop research and technology as expected.

Dasep Ahmadi also agreed that this country has potential. The graduate of Mechanical Engineering ITB '84 admitted that Indonesia still could not make appropriate global policy in the trade politics. He touched on two contradictory policies which were policies of electric-cars and low-cost-green-cars. Furthermore, he hoped that the academics would encourage the government to issue a policy on the use of electric cars. Seeing the condition that electric cars are more energy efficient and able to address the issue of energy security in Indonesia, it should be initiated according to the government's commitment in implementing technological advances and increase energy security and alignments to determine national-not foreign-businessmen.

Mario Rivaldi, Abdul Hapid and Linda Sunarti contributed in the improvement of energy security by developing innovations such as electric motors, electric cars, and gas-fueled transportation. The results of the innovation were motivated by the energy problems that arise in Indonesia include high energy consumption, the energy limitations, exhaust emissions, and operational and maintenance costs. According to Mario, Budget Indonesia set budget approximately 300 trillion to import fuel which has been burned every day and the budget should be saved up to about 150 trillion if people were using an electric -based transportation modes.

At the end of the event, the speakers delivered motivational messages especially to the younger generation to further develop the science and technology as the basis for innovation in realizing national independence.  "Look at the technological development, there will be no change without a revolution. The actors are the youth. What the younger generation is going to do in the future must be at least two times better than what we do now, " Hafid added.
