This Symposium on Inorganic Chemistry was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Akhmaloka and was followed by an opening speech by The Dean of The Faculty of Mathematics and Science, Prof. Umar Fauzi. The Head of Chemical Science, Prof. Bachri Amran, also attended this event. Beside symposium, this event was also an acceptance of international accreditation for undergraduate program which was presented to Chemical Science ITB by RSC. ITB is one of the 2 universities who was honored this award beside Gajah Mada University. In this opportunity, Dr. Dessy Natalia as The Head of Accrediation Team was presented the accreditation from RSC.

The speakers in this symposium were Prof. Ismunandar and Dr. Rino R. Mukti from ITB, and 4 speakers from UK; who were Michael Ward from University of Sheffield, Asel Sartbaeva from University of Bath, Jason Love from University of Edinburgh, and Graeme Hogarth from University College London. This symposium was also attended by Indonesia's researchers such as Agustino Zulys from University of Indonesia and Narsito from Gajah Mada University. This symposium discussed various topics, like "Oxide Ion Electrolytes" which was presented by Prof. Ismunandar, "Rational Strategies for Synthesizing Current Industrial Demanding Hierarchically Porous Zeolites" by Dr. Rino, "Host-Guest Chemistry of Polyhedral Coordination Cages" by Michael Ward, and other various interesting topics.

Besides presenting international speakers, there was also a presentation of posters by students and inorganic researchers in Indonesia. All of series of events in this symposium was aimed to stimulate the exchange of ideas and experiences among all participants, and raised a fundamental topic in the field of inorganic chemistry.
