After further selection, 19 proposals went through to the national level, representing various categories; 2 teams in Entrepreneurhip, 1 team in Community Service, 9 teams in Research, 4 teams in Technology Application, and 3 teams in Written Ideas.

"You can feel it in the air, that everyone has the ambition to make ITB the overall champion of PIMNAS," said Shofarul Wustoni (Chemistry '07), himself competing in the Written Ideas category under his work Salt Production Process Innovation for Indonesia. Others stated that the whole process of competing in PIMNAS has been greatly helped with the assistance that ITB has given, as stated by Cipto Adiguno (Biology '08).

Training and Workshop

The training sessions include methods in designing a good poster by Tendy Yulisca, a lecturer from the Faculty of Arts and Design. It capitalizes on previous experiences that indicate how crucial poster designs are in promoting the works of the participants. It is stated in the training that a good poster can be seen from the images on it, font type, and background colors. A good poster is one that is effective, communicative, and attractive while becoming all three in just a few seconds of observation.

Other trainings include presentation skills, given by Asep Wawan Jatnika. He stated that there are three things that the participants need to consider when delivering a presentation; the language, the instruments that will be used to describe the work, and the manners of speaking. He also said that a good presentation is one that can attract and be understood even by those that are not from the same fields of science. Participants received the training in Lembang, where they also practiced giving the presentation before competing to Makassar.
