ITB Student Choir will Hold National and International Choir Competition
BANDUNG, itb.ac.id- As the oldest college choir in Indonesia, ITB Student Choir (PSM-ITB) will hold national- and international-scale choir competition. Located at West Campus Centre, at February 11th 2010, press conference is held to publicize 10th Choir Festival ITB 2010 as PSM-ITB biannual national event and ITB International Choir Competition 2010, the first competition to invite foreign choir group.
According to Therecia Saktiana Putri Sihombing, as the chairman of both the events, in Juli 2010 PSM-ITB will hold its biggest event, which is 22nd ITB Choir Festival (FPS-ITB). This festival which will involve various national choir group is very prestigious, where all choir groups in Indonesia compete in ITB. "FPS-ITB will be an event fostering Indonesian choir group for betterment," said There.
As if not enough yet for PSM-ITB to hold national event, PSM-ITB will also enjoin FPS-ITB with ITB International Choir Competition (ITB-ICC). Involving participants worldwide, PSM-ITB even allocated US$ 14.000 development fund for this ITB-ICC
4500 Singers
This festival held in ITB campus, ITB West and East Hall, will approximately include 150 national and international choir team, or 4500 singers. These choir groups will perform for not less than 80 hours and 400 shows.
Not only student choirs, FPS-ITB even categorized based on education level. "There will be from Primary, Junior, High Schools and Universities," explained There. Drs. Djadji S. Satira, M. Si, as the chairman of ITB Students Bureaucracy and one of the supervisor of PSM-ITB stated that this event is a particular pride for ITB in world class universities relation. "Arts should be developed in international level along with education," he said. One of the international event in ITB, this will boost ITB's image collaborating with national and international choir groups. "This event will test ITB to be equal with other universities. ITB is not only superior in academic, but also in aesthetics," he added.
According to Djadji, other than competing and introducing a healthy competition, both events can be constituted as a media to spot another potential in Indonesia, such as tourism. "Back then, regional and foreign choir groups came to Indonesia, so that we could introduce Bandung as a creative city icon to the world," he stated. There, as the committee chairman, added there will be a special agenda for this, especially because Bandung will have reached 200 years.
