ITB Won Two Awards at the Processors Design Competition in Japan
BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Ganesha ANT Team successfully achieved the highest award from the Japan Society of Information and Communication, IEICE, at the chip design competition : LSI-Design Contest 2009. Ganesha ANT, which members are students of STEI ITB: Tyson, Aisar L. Romas, and R. Siti Intan, successfully set aside a finalist from the famous University in Japan and Korea. At the same competition, the other team, the Zoiros Team, received an award from the Multinational Company, Xilinx ® Award.
Ganesha ANT Team propose a new processor design that can execute processes in parallel. Processor has the advantage in speed compared to the processors that are now in common use. Design results form the team is a small prototype machine that can run "Game Hangman."
The jury is very impressed with the innovation in the new processor. This is evidenced in the hope that the jury was told that the processor can be implemented in the IT industry. The jury also said that the processor works by ITB students can improve the performance of electronic devices such as Computers, PDA, Smart Phone and so on. Processor technology itself at this time is usually dominated by hi-tech industries, such as Intel, Sun Microsystems, and IBM.
Zoiros Team that makes the processor design with the speed reaches 1 GigaHertz successful show the benefits of their system from other participants. Prototype computer from the team members of STEI ITB students : Randy Day Widialaksono, Fajar Firdaus Ahmad, Iman and prayudi can also exhibit the ability to run the processor in "Video Games Sokoban".
Both teams prepared for 6 months went through the course design in the chip in STEI ITB by Dr. Trio Adiono. This competition is an annual international competition held in the city's most famous resorts in Japan, the Okinawa. The jury in the competition came from academics and famous international companies in the world of electronics. This achievement shows that Indonesia has not lost the competence with other industrial countries, especially in the IT industry and the microchip. This also shows the readiness of ITB as well as international institutions.
This competition is held to 'born' the experts in the area of the chip in the area that is famous for its electronics industry - Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan to Singapore, where the need for expertise is very high. Departures of the team is supported by Cisco Systems and Alumni ITB 75.

In civitas Electrical Engineering ITB mailing list , Eniman Y Syamsuddin, Lecturer of Electrical Engineering ITB, congratulates the Electrical Engineering ITB students for achieving the prestigious competition and also to Lecturer adviser, Dr. Adiono Trio, who is successfully guide students to reach the highest achievement in each LSI Design Contest.
