ITB Won 2nd Place in Investment Research Competition
BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Students of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) represented by Hedianti Deliana, Valda Nurul Izah, and Rahmanto Tyas Raharja won 2nd place in Investment Research Competition, a competition within National Student Competition in Business and Management 2018 held by School of Business and Management of ITB (SBM-ITB) on 8-9 November 2018.
Valda and team had to go through several phases. The first was valuation case of Telkom Indonesia. For two weeks, the team had to discuss the valuation, make papers, and make a 15 minute long presentation that they uploaded on Youtube.
“Two weeks ago, announcement was made about passing teams, and we were one of them,” said Valda. Valda continued that on the second phase, they were asked to make comparison between Telkom’s valuation and its regional peers’ in Southeast Asia. Companies they choose for comparison were Starhub Singapore, Telecom Malaysia, Maxis Berhad Malaysia, and Indosat Ooredoo Indonesia.
Their works paid off as they passed through many phases and reached the final of National Business Competition (KBN) on 8 November 2018 and was named the big three that compete in the Grand Finale of KBN on the next day, 9 November 2018. For their presentation, they won the 2nd place.
“Teamwork is really required in making paper and presentation, because we have to answer the jury’s questions,” said Herdianti.
Asked about their impression of participating in the competition, they expressed their hope that other ITB students can have the chance to participate in similar competitions. Lessons can also be learnt outside of classes, such as from competition. Collaboration with other study programs is important to complement each other.
In Research Investment category, 1st place was won by Universitas Indonesia and the 3rd place was won by ITB. The competition have two branches, human resources and people development and social and business development.
