ITB Big Bang Team Achieved Imagine Cup 2009 Indonesia
JAKARTA, itb.ac.id - ITB Students again achieved the event competition Imagine Cup software by Microsoft. The Big Bang, that is David Samuel, Dody Dharma, Dominikus Damas, and Samuel Simon became winner of national Imagine Cup 2009. In addition they also get Rp. 15 Million cash. The Bing Bang eligible to become ambassador of Indonesia following the global level competition in Cairo, Egypt, next July. With this achievement, ITB successfully defend tradition of become champion. Last year, ITB Antarmuka Team with Butterfly Software even became a champion in the global at Rural Award category .
Took place in Shangrila Hotel Jakarta, Judges Team, including CEO of Microsoft Corporations, Steve Ballmer, on Monday (11/05/2009) rate the MOSES program (Malaria Observation System and Endemic Surviliance) that carried by The Bing Bang as the most appropriate program with the theme of the competition this year namely "Solving the World's Toughtest Problem." Solutions of MOSES program surpass the Demeter Program by Kabayan Team from Telkom Institute of Technology and Galaxy Project by Pusaka Team that is also from the Bandung Institute of Technology.
"Malaria is a simple disease, but the detection method sometimes takes time. After the blood checked, the patient must wait several days to find out the result.MOSES program can detect whether a person infected by the malaria through countingthe Plasmodium level in the blood. However MOSES is not intended to replace doctors, only to help review it, "said Dominikus in detikNet.
Tony Seno Hartono, staff of the National Technology PT Microsoft Indonesia, as sited in Kompas.com says said that this year competition theme is facing the toughest challenge in the world, such as reducing hunger, poverty, danger of AIDS, improving education, pregnant women health, and the sustainability of the environment.
At the Imagine Cup 2009, in Indonesia, Microsoft only screened the Software Design category. The overall category globally will be hold including Embedded Development, Gamed Development, Robotics and algorithm, IT Challenge, Mash Up, Photography, Short Film, and Software Design.
