BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) has established partnership with Beijing Jiaotong University (BJU) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ITB and BJU at ITB’s Rectorate Building on Thursday (14/9/2023).

The MoU was signed by President of Beijing Jiaotong University, Prof. Yu Zujun and ITB’s Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jaka Sembiring, M. Eng. This event was attended by delegations from both BJU and ITB. This signing represents a new collaboration between ITB and BJU in the field of high-speed train technology.

“The collaboration in the high-speed rail train field is an innovation step for ITB and for other institutions in Indonesia,” said Prof. Jaka. Sembiring.

The partnership between ITB and BJU is aimed to facilitate educational exchanges, promote research collaborations, and strengthen the friendship between the two institutions. The programs that will be implemented include the exchange of teaching educators, staff and researchers, student exchanges, as well as collaborative research and innovation.

The collaboration has been mutually agreed upon and encompasses various activities outlined in the MoU. Everything will be based on the principles of equality and mutual trust and is valid for a period of five years from the date of signing.

Prof. Jaka mentioned that the collaboration will be the foundation for future activities between ITB and BJU, particularly in the field of high-speed rail trains. It is an honor for ITB to be a university trusted to collaborate on a technology that has never been implemented in Indonesia before.

The high-speed rail train is a collaborative innovation between the Indonesian government and China, aiming to enhance community mobility efficiently.

ITB is ready to deploy human resources through Science Techno Park (STP) as a complete innovation ecosystem center at ITB. The Faculty of Engineering at ITB also prepared to contribute to the success of this collaboration. Prof. Jaka also offers non-regular activities such as seminars and training in the field of high-speed rail trains. He hopes that through these activities, more people can be educated about high-speed rail trains. Additionally, Prof. Jaka hopes that this collaboration will not only be limited to high-speed rail trains but will also improve in other fields, strengthening the relationship between the two institutions.

Prof. Yu Zujun also expressed his readiness for this collaboration. According to him, it is an honor and a crucial moment to be able to collaborate with the best and largest engineering university in Indonesia. Prof. Yu Zujun hopes that this collaboration can expand and contribute more to transportation in Indonesia and China.
