BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Pharmaceutical systems are starting to change from drug oriented to patient oriented. This new system will drive a pharmacist to give a high quality service in their line of work. This issue was discussed in Studium Generale Patient Counseling Event (PCE) 2011 on Saturday (19/11/11) at East Campus Centre ITB. With the theme "The misuse of drugs in a society and how pharmacist is a stakeholder". The source of misusing drugs can come from false diagnosis, irrational drug selection, and the wrong procedures in taking that drug.
"To use a drug, a patient needs a pharmacist," stated Dr. Endang Kumalawati, Apt. as one of the speakers in the this event.

According to Endang, pharmacists have the jurisdiction to analyze the proper use of drug based treatment.

Therefore, socialization and education on the proper use of drugs and the management of diseases is really needed. One of the ways to do so is through counseling.
