Approaching SBM ITB's 20th Anniversary: Avirama Nawasena Awards Recognize Commitment and Sustained Innovation

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Approaching its 20th year, the School of Business and Management of the Bandung Institute of Technology (SBM ITB) will award Avirama Nawasena at the ESG Award 2024, which will be held on Thursday (18/1/2024) at ITB Jakarta Campus, Graha Irama (Indorama), South Jakarta.

This event is one of SBM's commitments to sustainable development. As part of the mission to lead change, SBM also introduced various programs align with the Tridharma of Higher Education.

Previously, various programs have been implemented, such as training in vegetation management, community development, and tourism management in the Cirata national asset area, West Java involving local government, cross ITB lecturers, industry and the community.

Lecturer and Chairperson of ESG SBM ITB, Melia Famiola, S.T.P., M.T, Ph.D., said the Avirama Nawasena award was the culmination of a series of ESG activities, especially in the 20th anniversary of the establishment of SBM ITB.

"This award recognizes organizations and individuals who make significant contributions to a sustainable future economy. The assessment activity was carried out to assess the candidate’s overall sustainability commitments conducted on Wednesday (10/01) at the Zoom meeting," he said on Friday (12/1/2024).

The award categories are divided into two main categories, namely the institutional category and the individual category. The institutional category encompasses sustainable product innovation, sustainable service innovation, sustainable innovation in the supply chain, as well as organization and human resource support for sustainability, innovation in social change, and innovation in the creation of sustainable reporting.

Meanwhile, the individual category consists of innovation in the creation of sustainable products, innovation in sustainable services, and innovation in the impact of social change.

The judges consisted of professionals, academics, business people, and alumni. In this event, SBM ITB also collaborated with Emil Salim Institute and Detikjabar to build a comprehensive assessment. The assessment was divided into two sessions, the morning session and the afternoon session.

Institutions and or individuals who attended the judging came from various fields, especially those related to social or environmental issues, making an impact on this earth and contributing to the socio-economy of the community.

The candidates came from non-governmental organizations, individual businesses or business parts of the government including PT PLN Nusantara Cirata, Pupuk Indonesia, Adaro Indonesia, Astra International, Waste4Change, Wisnu Foundation, Mitra Bali Fair Trade, Javara, Amartha, and eFishery.

Meanwhile, the individual category is participated by representatives of Parongpong Recycle and Waste Lab Rendy Aditya Wachid, social health initiator Gamal Albinsaid, electricity empowerment Tri Mumpuni Wiyatno, and so on.

The candidates will present their ideas and innovations. The winner of the Avirama Nawasena award will be announced on Thursday (18/1/2024) together with SBM ITB's anniversary celebration entitled "Indonesian Business Sustainability Towards ESG: Challenges and Implementation" which will be held at ITB Jakarta Campus.

On the other hand, the Dean of SBM ITB, Prof.Dr. Ir. Ignatius Pulung Nurprasetio, M.SME, said that SBM ITB will be increasingly committed to leading as a business school, which seeks to integrate ESG principles comprehensively, with a focus on promoting justice, inclusiveness, building a sustainable business ecosystem, and preserving the environment for future generations".

"We are very proud, moreover ITB is also ranked 1st in Indonesia according to QS Ranking international for Sustainability aspects, and we want to contribute and continue to provide societal impact," he said.
