Ambassador of Indonesia to Turkey’s visit to ITB

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Rector of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., received a visit from Dr. Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, the Ambassador of Indonesia to Turkey, in the VIP Room of the ITB Rectorate Building, Jalan Tamansari, No. 64 Bandung, Monday (26/4/2021).

During the visit, they discussed Indonesia-Turkey bilateral relations on higher education, including collaboration of universities, apprenticeship programs, and ITB's participation in the Teknofest event in Turkey on September 21-26, 2021. "This visit is in order to see opportunities for cooperation between ITB and universities in Turkey such as student exchange programs or internships in industry," said Muhamad Iqbal.

The visit was attended by the University Secretary Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Widjaja Martokusumo, the Head of Partnership Bureau Prof. Dr. Taufiq Hidajat, and the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Prof. Dr. Ir. Tata Cipta Dirgantara, M.T.. Meanwhile, the Indonesian Embassy to Turkey was accompanied by the Trade Attache Eric Gokasi Nababan, the Economic Function II Fadlullah Aria Bima, and the Political, Social, and Culture Function II Hafid A Santosa.

The Rector of ITB welcomed the support and the cooperation exploration efforts from the Indonesian Embassy to Turkey. Meanwhile, the Head of Partnership Bureau Prof. Taufiq Hidajat said that the cooperation between ITB and Middle East Technical University (METU), and Istanbul Technical University, had been carried out before. However, the scope of the cooperation needed to be expanded and updated.

Meanwhile, Prof. Tata Cipta Dirgantara said that student interest in an exchange to Turkey has increased. Last year, there was one student who departed for Turkey. This year there were three students, but the departure was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Prof. Tata also mentioned cooperation opportunities in the fields of aerospace engineering and drone technology.
