2230 Students Graduated, ITB Held First Graduation Academic Year 2014/2015

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - On Saturday (18/10/14), ITB approved the graduation of 2230 students through Open Session of First Graduation in the Academic Year of 2014/2015. Here, ITB released 2231 undergraduate students, 840 magister students, and 36 doctoral students. There were 431 students who graduated with cum laude predicate. This open session was attended by ITB rector, deans, board of advisory, students' parents, and institutions that cooperate with ITB.

 The procession began as the Chairman, the Board of Trustees, the Council of Professors, and ITB Academic Senate entered the courtroom followed by the song of Mars ITB. Then the song of national anthem of Indonesia Raya and Mengheningkan Cipta echoed. It then proceeded with the Taking Graduates Appointments and Inauguration of Doctor/Magister/Bachelor followed by the song of Bagimu Negeri. After that, ITB Rector Prof. Dr. Akhmaloka delivered his speech that was continued with the congratulation speech to all graduates. Lastly, open session was closed with the parting words expressed by graduates representative and prayer.

In his speech, Akhmaloka said some thoughts about the relationship between activities of higher education and researches. It was related with the discourses of higher education sector will be merged with research sector which has reappeared again. Akhmaloka assumed that limited budget and high poverty rate can't be reason to ignore the needs for advancement and mastery of science technology which is the important parts for the developments of national culture.

End of his speech, Akhmaloka read the awards list which is achieved by ITB students along the period July 2014 to October 2014. These achievements obtained both nationally and internationally. Not only academic achievements but also non-academic achievements had been achieved by the students.

Furthermore, Tubagus Andhika Nugraha (Informatics Engineering 2010) as representative of the graduates expressed the farewell speech. In his speech, Andhika expressed gratitude and thanks to the entire ITB academic community for all lesson learned that had been given during studying in ITB. Andhika also advised to all graduates to maintain the humility and make choices about what to do next after getting out of the Gate of Ganesha. "There is no right or wrong choice as long as we make that choice consciously and do it with a vengeance - as well as when we chose to go in ITB years ago," said Andhika.
