Research Center of Information Technology and Communication (PPTIK) is a research center established with an aim to help Indonesian society to fully adopt and use ICT for their daily life. PPTIK focuses on the development and implementation of ICT to educate Indonesian on ICT, with special focus on people in rural area. Currently, there are a lot of challenges to be solved, such as challenges to implement next generation network in rural villages, design affordable next-generation computation, develop creative contents and platform for knowledge sharing for society and to study regulation and policy issues. PPTIK also focuses on planning process and implementation of research programs to continuously improve ICT, components, products, system, solution, application, services and regulation concepts for successful ICT implementation in rural communities. There are long term milestones to be achieved such as fully electronic services in public sector, e-government and digitalized industry to meet global standards.
