Siam Cement Group Opened Information Sessions Concerning SCG International Internship
The quality of a company can be reflected by the quality of its internship program. One of the most anticipated internship programs comes from a Thailand conglomerate company, Siam Cement Group (SCG). SCG with ITB Career Center held information session at East Campus Center Auditorium on Thursday, February 9th, 2017. The session was presented by SCG Thailand and SCG Indonesia representatives, and alumni of SCG’s internship program from previous years in delivering information about SCG, internship programs, and tips to get accepted on the program. The event was attended by hundreds of students from ITB and other universities in Bandung.
This time, SCG open internship
to students on their third to fifth year in university. The program is planned
to be held from July to August 2017. The program allows many majors to take
part in the recruitment despite restrictions on some. Registration requirements
and other information about the internship program can be accessed on SCG
website or ITB Career Center website.
SCG International Internship is held once a year and has entered their fifth year in 2017. The program is open to students from ASEAN countries, such as Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Philippines. In Indonesia, SCG will admit 10 (ten) students to join the program. Despite the small number of admittance, some of ITB students were able to pass the selection process to join SCG internship program. In the program, participants will work in SCG Thailand for a month to conduct a project that corresponds with their university majors. SCG added that participants will gain a lot of experience from the given project, the collaboration with participants from other countries, CSR, and recreational activities that will be held by SCG.
As a conglomerate company, SCG engages various businesses. However, the three core businesses of SCG are packaging, cement, and chemical products. SCG has developed their companies to international scale, mainly to ASEAN countries. One of the countries with largest SGC investment is Indonesia and it intensifies close relationship between SCG and potential labor force in Indonesia.
