BANDUNG, itb.ac.id-Celebrating National Education Day, professors of ITB from various faculties took part in the scientific lecture in the 6th of May regarding human meta learning. The webinar was held from 13.00-15.00 WIB with Anshari Al Ghaniyy as the MC and Lyra Puspa as the attending speaker.

The event began with a welcoming speech by ITB’s Vice Rector for University Resources, Dr. Ir. Gusti Ayu Putri Saptawati, M.Com. She emphasized the importance of educational awareness from educators themselves.

“Without full awareness towards it, the teaching process is not maximized, and much knowledge will be missed. As educators, we must be open to unpredictable situations,” she explained.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Jaka Sembiring, M.Eng., who is the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, also shared a few words about the new obstacles they may face in this era that requires preparations to overcome them, especially actively-teaching lecturers. Additionally, he listed the things needed to face these adversities.

“The Ministry of Education and Culture has issued out the things that need to be mastered in the 21st century, which are the mindsets of being creative, innovative, and critical. Others are the ability to solve problems, learn and make decisions,” he mentioned.

Understanding Human Meta Learning

As the president of Vanaya & Co., Lyra Puspa stated that human meta learning is the learning process focusing on humans to produce an effective training method that not only covers its comprehension stage but also continues until the character development phase.

In her commentary, educators must take the role as coaches to their students and raise their awareness to develop permanent characters. Furthermore, educators must be able to create a study atmosphere that focuses on students’ understanding and analysis to solve problems that increase their proficiency.

“As instructors, we do not only give knowledge, but we also become mentors that share wisdom to others, hence we have to be able to set an example and increase awareness as role models,” she advised. “Learning is about how we learn as humans.”
