BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Daarul Quran Group and Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) signed MoU for development of human resources. The MoU was signed by Rector of ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi, DEA and Chairman of Darul Quran Group, Yusuf Mansur at Executive Meeting Room A, ITB Rectorate Building, Bandung on Monday (17/6/2019).

Following the signing of the MoU, Daarul Quran Group will initiate a master’s degree program scholarship in ITB. This was stated by Yusuf Mansyur in his remark during the MoU signing ceremony.

“This cooperation is an honor to us in Daarul Quran because our good intention is well received. We want to take part in education in this country by providing 1000 full master’s program scholarship in ITB and 1000 doctor program scholarship in Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS),” he said.

The funding comes from business operated under Daarul Quran and donation from community. The scholarship will come to realization with the support of ITB and UNS. “Hopefully God bless this and it can raise gross enrollment rate of education in Indonesia,” he said.

On the same occasion, Daarul Quran Group also signed MoU with Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta for implementation of Three Pillars of Higher Education. Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho attended the ceremony to sign the MoU.

“This (scholarship program) should be carried out because almost every higher education, especially the students, expect scholarship for those who have academic potential with unfortunate economic condition,” he said.

He added that according to gross enrollment rate of education in Indonesia, only 34 percent of senior high alumni continue their study to university. “With this funding for scholarship, I believe it will soon exceed the 50% scholarship target from Menristekdikti. Hopefully this scholarship provided by Daarul Quran will help achieve that target,” he said.

In his remark, Rector of ITB, Prof. Kadarsah Suryadi said that ITB will support this program initiated by Daarul Quran especially in providing the scholarship because the program is in accordance with ITB’s mission to provide free education for economically unfortunate students.

“This scholarship can strengthen our mission to develop the people. Because there are many smart but economically unfortunate students, hence we help them through this scholarship. This scholarship can cut poverty chain and help develop our nation,” Prof. Kadarsah said.

He said that, ITB currently employs 1500 lecturers comprised within 110 research groups (KK). Therefore, he emphasize that ITB will support this program with Darul Quran through KK that exists in ITB.

The MoU signing ceremony was also attended by Secretary General of PBNU, Helmy Faishal Zaini, and Deputy Head for Information and Communication of MUI, Masduki Baidlowi, Chair of Internal Control Unit (SPI) of ITB, Prof. Asep Gana Suganda, Dean of SBM-ITB, Prof. Sudarso Kaderi Wiryono and other guests.
