Enhancing Research in Healthcare Science, Rector of ITB Signed MoU with Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – On Tuesday (19/12/17), ITB signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Rapim A, Rector Office of ITB, Jl Tamansari, Bandung. The MoU was signed directly by Rector of ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi, DEA and Chairman of Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti), Prof. dr., Amin Soebandrio Ph.D, Sp.MK. (K). The MoU covers partnership in education, research, and community services.

Besides MoU, signing of partnership agreement was done between ITB and Malaria Pathogenesis Laboratory and Mitochondria and Infectious Diseases Laboratory of Eijkman Institute of Molecular Biology about immunological studies, molecular genetics, and research on malaria vaccine development.

Located in Jakarta, Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology is a non-profit institute funded by Indonesian Government and engages in research on molecular biology and biotechnology. The name Eijkman is taken from the first director of the institute who was a Nobel Laureate in medicine, Christiaan Eijkman. Once absorbed into Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in 1960s, Eijkman Institute was separated and reopened in 1992 and fully operational in 1993.

ITB has many research groups relating to healthcare science. Therefore, ITB is ready to cooperate with Eijkman Institute to make enhancement in healthcare science.
