BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Nowadays, almost every human activity is made easier with the support of simple robots. Cellphones, computers, and televisions are a few of many robots that take parts in the advancement of technology. This often triggers curiosity and interest of young generation to robotics. Accommodating this interest, ITB Robotics Unit held ROBOSHARE on the 3rd floor of Labtek V on Sunday (14/05/17) at 08.30-12.30. This workshop was addressed especially to high-school/equivalent students who are interested in robotics.

The event opened with remarks by the host and representative of ITB Robotics Unit, hoping ROBOSHARE would give insight and ignite curiosity about robotics to participants. The workshop, which aimed to explain how to create robots and how to cooperate in robotics team, was then continued with basic knowledge presentation about common sense of robotics. Topics about general explanation on robot and robotics, divisions in team, and the task of each division was addressed in the presentation. The following session was an online quiz game on robotics. The session was aimed to review the previous presentation and to clarify unclear explanation.

After that, ROBOSHARE provided the participants with three selectable workshops, the light sensor, mechanical design, and servo workshops. Servo workshop demonstrated how to assemble and run the servo to move in two different directions. On the other hand, mechanical design class demonstrate how to design a simple mechanical system using Autodesk Inventor. Light sensor workshop demonstrated how to assemble light sensors and how to read the intensity of the light. During the workshops, the committee accompanied the participants for immediate assistance. At the conclusion of ROBOSHARE, there was a performance and demo of robot by Calon Kru 9, ITB Robotics Unit just before it officially ended.
