ITB Signed MoA with The National University of Malaysia

Bandung, ITB.ac.id –  Located at Rapim A room, CCAR Building ITB, on Monday (20/02/17) the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was conducted between Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and The National University of Malaysia (UKM) to seal a co-management of the ASEAN Youth Volunteer Programme (AYVP). The MoA was directly signed by the Rector of ITB, Prof. Dr.Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Industry & Community Partnerships of UKM, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Imran Ho Abdullah.

AYVP is an annual program that involves ASEAN youth to develop innovative solution in social, cultural, and environmental challenges in communities across ASEAN. The next AYVP will be the fifth since the initial in 2013 is held in Malaysia and the second time in 2014 is also held in Malaysia. The following years saw the event outside Malaysia with Cambodia as the host in 2015 and the Philippines as the host in 2016. This year, Indonesia, especially ITB is honored to host the 2017 AYVP with Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) as the theme.

AYVP will be conducted in three phases, Pre-Program Phase, the Four-week Program Phase, and Post-Program Phase. The Four-week Program Phase will begin from 1-26 August 2017 and will put the focus on Lembang Village, West Bandung Regency located above Lembang Fault  (Sesar Lembang) and Cigadung, Bandung located six Kilometers to the South of Lembang Fault.

The participants of AYVP are Youth aged from 18 to 30 year old with background in higher education, colleges, youth organizations, and non-governmental organizations operating in ASEAN.

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Imran Ho Abdullah in his opening speech expressed his gratitude to ITB for the opportunity to open a room of cooperation in co-managing one of important events in ASEAN. The Rector of ITB expressed his delight for the cooperation between the parties and eagerly expected the program on August 2017. AYVP program is in line with the objective of ITB to encourage researches and publications.

The MoA records the implementation of procedures of AYVP and the responsibilities of the parties, financial arrangements and reporting, notices, settlement of disputes, protection of intellectual property rights, and other rights and interests of the parties. The signing was followed by video screening of previous AYVP and concluded with mementos exchange between the Rector of ITB and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Industry & Community Partnerships UKM.
