BANDUNG, itb.ac.id-Institut Teknologi Bandung successfully snatched all titles in National Safety Competition 2014 that was organized by Student Union of Chemical Engineering Gadjah Mada University. In the event that was joined by chemical engineering students from all over the country, the winner, runner up, second runner up, and best poster category were all snatched by teams from ITB. NSC itself had started since August 2014 and ended in November 2014 in Yogyakarta.
The winner of NSC 2014 was achieved by Galih Okta and Reiner Raditya, followed by Jason Immanuel and Aldrich Tyto on the secod place, and Nadia Rahmeita Prasanti and Alvin Kurniawan Hanafie on the third place. The best poster was awarded to Rizkia Kunti Pragati and Devina Jonathan. All of the winners are students of Chemical Engineering batch 2011.

In the event that was specially held for chemical engineering students, the participants were ordered to make a paper discussing about design of safety system in offshore oil and gas industry. Galih Okta (Chemical Engineering 2011), winner of NSC stated that his team delivered a topic about safety system in an oil platform. TOgether with his partner, Reiner Raditya (Chemical Engineering 2011), he did a study about risk potentials that could probably happen in an oil platform, such as gas-leakage.

Galih said that safety culture is very important to be applied in industry in order to minimize the risks that could happen all the time. "The purpose of designing safety system is to ensure industrial activities could run safely", he stated. "On our paper, we also state the importance of safety culture in order to minimize accidents which are always possible to happen", he added. Galih admitted that during preparation, his team was constrained with the limited time, academic business, and difficulties in finding the materials. However, he and Reiner could tackle all the things well that both of them could finally become the winner.

NSC was admittedly held in order to emphasize the importance of safety working in industry because the risk of safety in industry is very high. Without concerning safety, there is no doubt that industrial activities could not run well. "Hopefully, all of the industries could understand the importance of safety in every part of their activities", stated Galih at the end of the interview.
