ITB Gets Four Champion at Pertamina OSN 2013
BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - In Pertamina National Science Olympiad (OSN Pertamina) 2013, which took place on Monday-Friday (9-13/12/13) at the University of Indonesia, ITB managed to carve a brilliant achievement. Four championships were achieved, two of which are of category of theory, while the other two was from science projects category. This year is the sixth year of convening OSN Pertamina.
For theory category , Mathematics II champion won by Dian Sito Rukmi ( Math '11 ) and Chemistry II champion won by Wise Riyandi Ahadito ( Chemistry '10 ) . As for the category of science projects , field champion II Software Applications Lyonnais achieved by Hanif , Irfan Kamil , and Adi Satria Pradana . All three are students of Informatics , 2010. While the third prize in the same plane , also achieved by ITB team consisting of Muhammad Taufik Hidayat , Nurhadi Alvin Wijaya , and Muhammad Akbar Arrozaq . All three are students are from Engineering Physics , 2011.
In theory category , there are four areas that are contested , namely Mathematics , Physics , Chemistry , and Biology . The selection process to determine the winner runs quite tight . Starting from the preliminary round in each region . The highest value for the winner of each region will enter the semi-finals . Then from each province , selected 3 winning the highest score to be the champion I, II , and III in each province . The first winner of each province are termed ' cross- field champions ' will be joined by the champion of each region to take part in the seminal . The total participants for the final round of the four areas are 73 , 40 and 33 regional champions from across the field .
In the semifinal , the form of the selection there are 2 types , theoretical essays and articles and open-ended questions . From the selection of the six best of each field will enter the final round . In the final round , participants were asked to present the solution of the given problem . After that , at night embedding which took place on Friday ( 12/13/13) announced the winner of champion I, II , and III for each field .
In contrast to the theory category, the category of science project consists of 2 phases , the preliminary and final . Preliminary round itself divided by 2 stages , face to face and online . In face-to -face phase , participants who had previously made a paper and poster are required to present a poster in front of the committee . By the central committee , drawn 10 best teams of each field that will be present in front of the jury online . 5 best teams of each field will enter the final round . In the final round , participants are required to bring the project to display the results and present the project in front of the jury .
According to Dian , she gained a lot of experience during this competition . " I'm happy because I made a lot of new friends and got many exciting experiences . Additionally , it also concerning about the energy in Indonesia " said Dian . She also admitted that he had to leave the exam in order to enter the competition because the event takes place during the semifinals and finals week during Semester Final Exam . " Hassle in the back anyway because of the need to leave behind the exam . , But i dont mind taking the risk, It was worth-trying" Dian closed .
