BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - The first graduation in ITB for the academic year of 2010/2011 has passed. ITB Rector Prof. Akhmaloka, Ph.D personally led the Open Graduation Session which graduated 1806 ITB students. "Congratulations to the graduates of ITB's Doctorate, Magister, and Undergraduate programs for finishing your studies in ITB," said Akhmaloka as he officially opened the session, on Friday-Saturday (22-23/10/10) at Sasana Budaya Ganesha (Sabuga), ITB.

From the 1,806 graduates, 254 attained the honor of Cum Laude: 36 doctorates, 56 magisters, and 178 undergraduates. SBM ITB gained the most Cum Laude honors - 81 from its 186 graduates.

Akhmaloka, in his opening remarks, said that graduates of ITB were expected to be able to give a real contribution to society. "In the real world, new aspirations and inspirations will always emerge," explained Akhmaloka. This will of course give rise to new opportunities and challenges as well. He added that he hoped their contributions would not only be in science and technology.

On this occasion, Akhmaloka also congratulated the people of ITB for their achievements from July to October 2010. These proud achievements were made by students, lecturers, and extracurricular units in ITB, one of which was the 17 undergraduates chosen to participate in Indonesian Model United Nations (IMUN) 2010. IMUN is a simulation of a UN Council Meeting held at Universitas Indonesia (23-27 October 2010), joined by student delegates from all over Indonesia.

On the achievements of the lecturers, Akhmaloka highly appreciated Dr. Eng. Mikrajuddin Abdullah, M.Si who was chosen as the National High-Achieving Lecturer (Dosen Berprestasi Nasional) 2010.
