Introduction to Geophysics Engineering Second Edition” by Professor of Geophysics Engineering of The Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering (FMPE) ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Djoko Santoso, M.Sc., PG.Dip.

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Professor of Geophysics Engineering of The Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering (FMPE) ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Djoko Santoso, M.Sc., PG.Dip., launched the book “Introduction to Geophysics Engineering Second Edition” book at the East Career Center Auditorium of Campus Ganesha, Wednesday (23/08/2023).

Prof. Joko explained that the main purpose of the book is to provide a deeper understanding of Geophysics Engineering to readers, whether they are students or practitioners.

According to him, the book attempts to explain complex concepts using more understandable language without compromising scientific substance.

Prof. Joko mentioned that the book is an advancement of the previous edition and includes further topics. The book is divided into 3 volumes, each focusing on specific aspects, such as technology, nature phenomena, and geophysics engineering implementations.

The Head of The Geophysics Engineering Study Program, David Prambudi Sahara, S.T, M.T., said that the book is important as a guide for a geophysicist.

“Moreover, references nowadays are often written in English. The existence of the book ‘Introduction to Geophysics Engineering Second Edition’ is expected to become a new credible reference for students,” he said.

The event was attended by academic colleagues from ITB, University of Lampung, Trisakti University, Pertamina University, and representatives from PT. Pertamina EP, PT. LAPI ITB, government institutions such as SKK Migas, BMKG, as well as national professional associations HAGI, IAGI, along with students.

Many people expressed their appreciation for the book launch. One of them was Prof. Dr. Emmy Suparka, the first female Professor of Geology in Indonesia, who had also been a lecturer of Prof. Djoko Santoso during his studies at the ITB Geology Study Program. She also conveyed her pride in her former student.
