BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – On 6 April 2022, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World Ranking University (WUR) released their world university ranking by subject, commonly known as QS World University Ranking 2022. As a world-class university, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) has been ranked in four out of five Broad Subjects and 13 out of 51 Narrow Subjects available in the QS Ranking.

This is a new achievement, because last year, ITB only managed to be ranked in the three Broad Subjects Areas available in the QS institute ranking system.

As for the four Broad Subject Areas, ITB ranked first in Indonesia for two Broad Subject Areas. In Engineering and Technology category, ITB ranked first in Indonesia and 179th worldwide, with a score of 72,6. For Natural Sciences, ITB also ranked first in Indonesia and 372nd worldwide with a score of 63,9.

For the other three Broad Subject Areas, Art and Humanities ranked third in Indonesia and 378th worldwide with a score of 61,4, and Social Sciences & Management ranked fourth in Indonesia and 238th worldwide with a score of 67,2. This year marks ITB's first entry in the Broad Subject Areas Art and Humanities ranking by the QS WUR by Subject.

"This is certainly good news, in addition to a new subject entering the ranking list, three other Broad Subject Areas rankings increased from the previous year. This becomes a motivation for ITB to maintain its quality and further develop itself to become the best higher education," said the ITB Chair of Quality Assurance Committee (SPM), Dr.rer.nat. Poerbandono, S.T., MM.

The 2022 QR WUR by Subject for Broad Subject Areas has five assessment indicators, namely 1) Academic Reputation, 2) Employer Reputation, 3) Citations per Paper, 4) H-Index, and 5) International Research Network (IRN), in which IRN is a newly added indicator implemented this year. The portions of each indicator on the QS WUR by Subject 2020 for Broad Subject Areas are listed below.

Generally, in 2022, ITB's position in the world is increasingly recognized with the addition of new Broad Subject Areas and Narrow Subject Areas rankings in the QS WUR 2022. This achievement is no other than the combined efforts of ITB academic communities. In harmonia progressio.
