BANDUNG, itb.ac.id— Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) held the New Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Profession New Student Welcoming (PMB) for the 2023/2024 Academic Year. This event was held in two places; the ITB Jatinangor Campus for the undergraduate program, and Sabuga Convention Hall for the Graduate and Profession program, Monday (15/8/2023).

Differing from last year, this year’s PMB was centered at the ITB Jatinangor Campus. This was because all activities of first-year (TPB) undergraduate students will be conducted at the ITB Jatinangor Campus for the 2023/2024 Academic Year.

The event started off by the publication of the welcoming report read by the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof Dr. Ir. Jaka Sembiring, M. Eng. He stated that the preliminaries and arrangements of the event have been prepared since January of 2023.

The Office of the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs (WRAM) reported that ITB has admitted over 5,699 new students for this 2023/2024 Academic Year, with 4,651 of them being undergraduates, 974 being graduates and postgraduates students, and 44 others are pursuing a profession degree.

This year, ITB selected its newly-admitted students based on the 4 entrance paths; the National Selection Based on Achievements (SNBP) and National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) which was held nationally, and the internal university selection system (SM) and International Undergraduate Program which was held by ITB itself.

Afterwards, the new students were officially inaugurated as ITB students by Rector of Institut Teknologi Bandung Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D, followed by the recitation of the student oath led by a representative from each faculty, making this event as lively and festive as it can be.

The Rector gladly welcomed the new ITB 2023 students with gratitude and appreciation to each of them. “To be a part of ITB means to bring change to the country”, she said. Due to that, ITB structural education was designed to fulfill its students' needs with both knowledge and character. Prof Reini also wished that ITB’s class of 2023 students can reach a higher level of knowledge and a wiser character.

This formal ceremony was the start of the New Student Welcoming event series. After this, the new students will then participate in many activities, such as Psychological First Aid (PFA), Student Orientation (OSKM), and Character Development Training (CDT).
