APEN conference on Asia-Africa Aerial and Optical Silk Road

11 - 12 November 2015 Bandung - INDONESIA
Day-1: November 11 The Asian- African Conference Museum (Bandung, Indonesia)
Day-2: November 12 Aula Barat, Institut Teknologi Bandung

The industries with the manufacturing industry as their center have been accelerating their internationalization rapidly and forming the Global Industrial Network (GIN). Especially in Asia, this tendency is notable and the integration of industrial environments, which can be seen in the economic integration of ASEAN, decentralized companies and located them in various regions in Asia by functional units. As a result of this, it became possible for various regions in Asia to take part in GIN by making initial investment commensurate with their capability and it is expected that the development of GIN will function to fill up the economic gaps among the regions in Asia.

The main topic of the conference will be &pos;Aerial and Optical Silk Road,' namely connecting Asia and Africa by the nexus of aerial routes (Aerial Silk Road) and internet (Optical Silk Road), and then establishing the huge industrial system covering Asian and African region. Fostering aviation industry, production network among aerotropolises and development of IoT (Internet of Things) will be discussed at the conference. APEN sincerely invites all of you to the conference. Participating the conference will offer you a good chance to understand vigorous momentum of development in Asia and Africa, as well as an important business chance in those regions.

By the development of GIN, it can be foreseen that Asia will realize globally Industrie4.0 which is advocated mainly by Germany, in other words, will embody Industire4.0plus. The main infrastructures which constitute GIN are various kinds of standardizations, development of IoT (Internet of Things) and the high-speed distribution system. Especially, the nodes (regions /organizations) which work as hubs of the network are of extreme importance and have the key role to make the backbone high-speed distribution system perform its function sufficiently. It is clear that as the high-speed distribution system, which connects these backbone nodes, the air transportation system, namely "the aerial Silk Road", will become indispensable. By the introduction of concept of IoT and that of the aerial Silk Road into GIN, the new SmartGIN based on the Industrie 4.0 plus can be produced. The SmartGIN which is assumed as a development model of Asia seems to be able to become a global model of development which will go beyond Asia. It is considered that shifting the development of Asia directly to various regions in Africa through the aerial Silk Road can be a dominant model of equitable development in Africa. We are sure that it has a great significance for the development of Asia and Africa for us to hold this APEN Asia-Africa Aerial and Optical Silk Road Conference so that we can study the above mentioned possibilities by collecting wisdom of Asia and Africa. We strongly expect that the result of this study will surely produce a model of industrial development not only for the Asia and African regions but on the global scale.

APEN (Asia Professional Education Network) is an international network among universities and other related organizations in Asia which share APEN's principle on the Asian development. At this moment, APEN consists of 20 universities and 10 organizations in 14 Asian economies. APEN will hold APEN Asia-Africa Aerial and Optical Silk Road Conference (APEN Silk Road Conference) in Bandung, Indonesia 11 & 12 th November (2015).
